Throughout her art career, Kathy Halper has challenged herself by exploring different mediums, techniques and concepts.
While raising teenagers at the onset of the social media revolution, she began a series of embroidered drawings and portraits exploring privacy and parenting in the age of public posting. This led to representation by Packer Schopf Gallery in Chicago, George Billis Gallery in LA and Muriel Guepin in NYC as well as countless other exhibits. Her work has been shown in Art Basel Miami and written about in HuffPost, amongst others.
Her work is always personal, showcasing her humor, creative exploration and storytelling skills. She created political folklore narratives and cardboard paintings that tell childhood stories. Her current mixed media three dimensional paintings started as views of the “smallness” of pandemic life and continue to explore unremarkable moments we often overlook.
The artist lives outside Chicago.
