Jessica Joy London

W30

Jessica Joy London was born in Guyana and grew up in Florida. She received a BFA with distinction from the University of South Florida and an MFA from the University of Michigan. Joy, as she likes to be called, has been an exhibiting artist in the contemporary art world since 2001, but has been selling her art since high school. Her art has been featured in the Smithsonian, the Grand Rapids Art Museum, the Urban Institute of Contemporary Art, the International Auto Show and is collected in many private and public collections. Michelle Grabner, the curator of the Whitney Biennial in 2013, says Joy's work is operating in the world of contemporary photography rather than painting because of the unbelievable photographic detail she is able to achieve in her paintings. Artist Wangechi Mutu called Joy the most experimental artist in her graduate program. Joy loves to share her excitement about the unique process she invented, so please wander over and say hi!
