Janet Rutkowski is a Brooklyn-based artist whose work spans over thirty-five years. Throughout this time she has been primarily working in metal. She has a diverse background of abstract sculpture, architectural ironwork, and functional art. Her work has shown both nationally and internationally. She has organized and curated many exhibitions. In 2018-2020 she was a partner at RSOAA, The Royal Gallery in Williamsburg Brooklyn. November 2020 she had her first NY solo show at the Time Arts Gallery where she successfully presented a new series of sculptures and works on paper. The show entitled Reflections From the Inner Citadel was inspired by the lockdown during the pandemic.
Janet was born in Staten Island, N.Y. She attended the High School of Art and Design. She is primarily a self-taught artist. She currently resides in Brooklyn with a studio in Barryville, N.Y.
