David Richard is a self-taught fine art painter specializing in modern portraiture, often paying homage to the classic impressionist painters. He often works in acrylic paint as a medium for his work, supplementing details with ink and Graphite.
His current series of work features famous popular culture moments, both on-and-off camera, with a focus on tough female characters. There’s a strong emphasis on portraiture while also experimenting with his own form of abstraction.
His technique centers on realism–he loves capturing iconic, candid moments and translating them into an artwork segment by segment.

“Simply put, I love paintings–always have. I would stare at them for hours dreaming I was in that world or how the subject’s life would have been.”
