Multi-Genre Lighting Designer (Germany)

Chris Moylan has been working as a freelance lighting designer since 1999. Originally from Canada, Chris began working in Montreal lighting smaller installations, raves, and clubs. He came to Germany in 2003 and expanded into larger live events, tv shows, and concerts. Now Chris is considered one of the most prolific Lighting Designers working today, with a broad portfolio spanning several different types of events and shows. Chris believes the diversity of his work only helps to strengthen his designs. He is known for his musicality in programming, his precise planning, and his team of professionals. In the Theater and Acrobatic world, Chris has designed the last two Grand shows, Arise and Vivid, in Friedrichstadtpalast Berlin, the largest stage in the world. He has also designed the last two touring productions for Holiday on Ice, Showtime and Supernova. Previous designs include shows for Roncalli, Apassionata, Palazzo, and others. He also has designed the theaters for all Tui Cruises Cruise ships and over 20 different original shows performed within.Chris is also very active in industry shows and special events–he has designed and lit world premieres for Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche, Skoda, Mercedes, and others. Chris was also responsible for lighting of the 2017 Capital of Culture opening show in Aarhus, Denmark, the 300-year anniversary of Karlsruhe, the LifeBall in Vienna, and several cruise ship christenings. For many years, Chris was touring with legendary DJ, Paul van Dyk. He also has designed shows for many other artists, including Solomun, Claptone, Steve Aoki, and Christian Löffler. During the Coronavirus Pandemic, Chris and his team produced Lux Partum–a live, remote controlled lighting installation which allowed anyone to log in remotely and control a real lighting setup synced to a special soundtrack produced by Paul van Dyk. The installation received over 40,000 users from 94 countries.
